Rebound’s Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) is located within Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre. All beds are contracted with the Youth Justice Board and placements are directly referred to the Centre through the Youth Justice Board’s Placement Team.
The MBU is a specialist purpose built unit within the Secure Training Centre where pregnant young women, young mothers and babies live in their own unit where their needs can be most appropriately met. The MBU enables mothers to live and look after their babies whilst they are in custody.
The MBU can look after up to three pregnant young women or three mothers with babies. There is a maximum capacity for four babies to be looked after as one bedroom has facilities for twins/siblings upto 18 months old.
The MBU is specifically designed to help young mothers to look after their baby. Staff support young mothers to care for their baby and build relationships with him/her whilst safeguarding the baby’s welfare.
